當爽片看是滿足的，很乾脆地把上部驚豔的“地心世界”，直接擴充到佔比全片80%的篇幅。怪獸迷/巨物迷能有兩小時，完全沉浸在巨獸的世界中，不用理會現實的所有煩鬧。原先怪獸電影這個類型，多少要和災難片、驚悚片的類型框架做融合。但這部不太一樣，更像是轉型成了一部超英片或武俠片。“含獸量”提升，深入到怪獸視角，從它們的角度說故事，人類終於成為鑲邊的配角。這顯然是更知道大家想看什麼了，就是來看大怪獸的。
