《來自雪國的遺書》第二次世界大戰後，日本人山本幡男（二宮和也 飾）被拘禁在蘇聯的強迫收容所，儘管自然環境嚴苛如煉獄，為了能返回日本與丈夫、父母重逢，他仍拼死求存，向其他戰俘營述說自己的價值觀：「不可捨棄生存的希望，回家的日子終會到來——」。
